Aimee’s been a very busy bee in aid of the NHS
A seven-year-old from Saltford, has written and illustrated her first novel in support of the NHS.
Aimee Phillips has created her first book titled The Very Hungry Honey Bee in aid of the NHS Charities Together fund. Aimee started writing on January 1 with the aim of raising £100 by her eighth birthday.
She has so far raised more than £500 and has now digitally published her book.
Aimee has decided to create the book to make as much money as possible for the health service while it is tackling the coronavirus pandemic.
Her mum Sonia said Aimee likes to challenge herself and that the regular clap for the NHS inspired the creation.
Aimee said: “I loved it on a Thursday when everyone was out in their streets clapping on our key workers, so I thought why not write and illustrate a book that people could read to show their love and appreciation for our hardworking keyworkers, all whilst raising money for the important NHS charities.
“It will also act as a little keepsake and a reminder of the tough times we’ve had and that it won’t be forever.
“I would like us all to stand shoulder to shoulder, metaphorically! Let’s try not to get downhearted, we will get through this, whatever is thrown at us and together we can ensure that next week will be a good week.”
Aimee once wrote and illustrated a book for Christmas Eve.
She said she was inspired by The
Very Hungry Caterpillar. Aimee said: “I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to each and every one who generously contributed.
She added: “You are all so amazing and showing what is so special about
our great nation. Thank you.”
