A new sports shop has opened its doors in Bath city centre, giving fitness buffs a place to try new kit and personalised demonstrations.

Peloton, a fitness brand that sells bikes, treadmills, clothing, and offers classes through an app, welcomed customers to its new store on St Lawrence Street on Monday.

The Southgate showroom is the brand’s 20th in the UK and will allow sports lovers to try out the new Peloton products in five private trial rooms.

The brand’s first indoor bike launched in America in 2014 and four years later hit the UK. Since then, the Bike+ and treadmill have come along, both priced £2,295. The brand’s standard Bike product costs £1,750. They are used in combination with an app that features home workouts, classes and more.

In the new Bath shop, customers can try out the equipment and buy the brand’s latest clothing. They can book in-person or virtual appointments online.

Darren Barrett, senior director of sales and experience for Peloton said: “We’re excited to open our 20th UK showroom in Bath to allow even more people to try Peloton’s suite of products in person.

“Peloton offers a unique combination of the best-in-class hardware, software, content and community; and our retail showrooms are a great way to learn more about the brand.”

Guy Henderson, centre director at Southgate Bath, added: “Peloton is a really exciting addition for us. It’s always pleasing to be able to announce the arrival of new brands, especially ones that are this well-known and that bring something a bit different to the city.

“I’m sure that the showroom will be a big hit with our customers wanting to trial and experience the products in person, especially with the rising interest in at-home fitness during this time.”
