Football club hosts college’s Prince’s Trust programme
The Twerton Park home of Bath City FC has been unveiled as the new home of Bath College’s Prince’s Trust Team Programme this autumn.
The programme is a free 12-week course for young people aged between 16-25 who are not in employment, education or training and is designed to help them develop new skills, meet new challenge.
Team leaders will guide learners through the programme which includes an residential trip, a work placement, challenging community-based projects and an end-ofteam presentation to celebrate their achievements.
Each team consists of around 12 young people from various backgrounds and abilities, working together to help them achieve their goals.
Participants also have the chance to focus on job-search activities and work towards recognised qualifications in employment, teamwork and community skills, first aid and food hygiene.
Ben Perry, Princes Trust team leader for Bath College is proud of the inaugural cohort who completed the course earlier this year. He said: “All of our 2020/21 learners went into employment or education by the end of the course, which is a fantastic achievement.”
Bath City FC general manager Carole Banwell added: “The football club is the ideal location for the delivery of this superb scheme, based as we are in an area of Bath with below-average education and employment outcomes.
“We want to be more than just a classroom venue, by collaborating with the college and with our community, commercial and sporting partners to create richer and longlasting opportunities for the students.”
This 12-week personal development course is now open for applications and is free to attend. For more information on the course, visit https://www.bathcollege.ac. uk/princes-trust
