From cafes to furniture stores, a wide range of new businesses have set up shop in Bath since lockdown. Perhaps you’ve already popped in for a look around, or maybe you’re looking for a new place to check out.

There is something for everyone in this list of thriving traders who have recently come to the city, and you’re sure to find something you like.

Whether it’s amazing sushi or a comfy sofa you’re after, you won’t be short of options this autumn.

To help you pick one to visit first, the Bath BID has put together this list of 12 new traders that have opened in Bath over the summer:

1) Bosco Pizzeria

Bosco on Milsom Place draws influences from New York to Naples and has a casual, informal atmosphere.

The cuisine is simple and seasonal, with weekly imports from Italian markets.

The menu is made up of a variety of classical regional Italian dishes and pizzas handcrafte­d in the Neapolitan style - light and airy with a very slightly charred crust.

2) Brewdog Bath

The independen­t Scottish craft brewer Brewdog is inviting fans of craft beer to dive into their much loved line-up at their newest UK bar, right in the centre of Bath.

The bar has promised to bring a trailblazi­ng range of craft beer, good food and great times. Perfectly sited for exploring the city, Brewdog Bath is located in the Southgate Centre.

3) candy world

A mecca for sweet lovers, the new Candy World in Abbey Churchyard sells American and Australian confection­ary you can’t get at home - until now.

From Lucky Charms, Hershey’s and Twinkies to flavours of M&M’S, oreo and Dairy Milk, Candy World offers an array of tempting treats.

4) coffee#1

Coffee#1 first opened its doors in 2001, branching out in 2018, when they opened a store at Bath riverside.

Now, they have opened up a second branch in James Street West, serving great coffee made by talented baristas, in a relaxed and welcoming environmen­t.

5) Foneworld

The Foneworld team are obsessed with gadgets and gizmos.

They are the people standing in line on launch day waiting for the latest smartphone or gaming console - they love all things tech and are experts at what they do.

Foneworld fixes electronic devices, from the classic phone drop in the car park to the tablet in the toilet. You can find their new branch in Stall Street.

6) Holloways of ludlow

Founded in 1985 with a passion for unique design, Holloways of Ludlow has now opened up a showroom on Milsom Street.

The showroom, housed in a former bank, offers designer furniture, lighting, radiators and ironmonger­y.

7) labyrinth Bar and nightclub

Labyrinth is Bath’s brand new three-room nightclub.

Bop the night away on the light-up dancefloor in the disco room, hit the botanic room for some r&b and house music, and enjoy EDM, dance and chart bangers in the main labyrinth room.

You will discover something new and exciting around every corner.

8) Papaw cha

Papaw Cha was founded in Bangor, Wales, but offers all things common to Guangdong, China.

As well as serving high-quality tea, you can try delicious Asian food including sushi and bubble waffles. They welcome everyone to Papaw Cha to start their tea journey!

9) robun

robun has opened on Bath’s prestigiou­s George Street, offering quality Japanese fare for lunch, tea and dinner.

The restaurant takes its inspiratio­n from Kaganaki robun’s book, Seiyo ryoritsu, which was published in 1872 and introduced Western barbecue to Japan.

Their interpreta­tion of “yakiniku” specialise­s in sharing plates of grilled meats, seafood and vegetables fused with Asian cuisine.

10) tr Hayes

Bath’s biggest furniture store, Tr Hayes in London Street, has opened a second base in the South Gate centre.

The flagship shop is an Aladdin’s cave covering almost 50,000 square feet over seven floors and more than 20 surroundin­g properties.

If you’re looking for a comfy sofa or chic coffee table, this is a good place to try.

11) Vero’s spanish cafe and deli

Vero’s in Milsom Place serves small Spanish bites for breakfast, brunch and lunch, alongside homemade cakes and coffee roasted by The Colombian Company.

It comes with an uplifting atmosphere and authentic Spanish cuisine made from the finest ingredient­s, while the surroundin­g deli offers ingredient­s to purchase and try at home.

12) woodhouse and law

You can get great homewares at discounted prices at Woodhouse and Law’s new pop-up shop in Milsom Place.

Founded in 2009 by interior designer John Law and garden designer Nick Woodhouse, they offer a complete design service for the home and garden under one roof.
