Pandemic used to remove civil liberties

-

At the next local elections I hope your readers will remember what they have lost under a Lib Dem council.

The pandemic was cynically used to remove many of our civil liberties by introducing a whole raft of unnecessary traffic calming and changed priorities to facilitate B&NES’ green agenda and pedestrianise whole swathes of our city and suburbs.

In my opinion their CAZ has already proven to be descriminatory and massively damaging to local businesses and the ‘ring of steel’ is allegedly based on information several years out of date, but has enabled them to pedestrianise new areas of our city centre.

So why if ‘terrorism’ is such a threat, are they retaining the Christmas Market, where they hope the stalls will be buzzing with people. Not to mention the risk of Covid.

Low Traffic Neighbourhoods have been shown to prevent emergency vehicles getting through, and cause mayhem by shifting the traffic problem to another neighbourhood.

Once again the pandemic and CAZ has allowed the Lib Dems to completely neglect their highways agenda, roads are left unrepaired, dangerous road layouts go unamended, speed checks remain under-resourced.

Cllr Manda Rigby tells us they need a traffic regulation order to stop lorries using Ceveland Bridge and Bath in general as a through route. As this is going to be ‘a tough task,’ why not get our ‘multi-lobbying’ Bath MP Wera Hobhouse to engage with the issue.

If one looks at the pictures of Brighton under the Greens and their ban on chemical sprays, you will see what we can expect here in Bath. Drive out of Bath into Wilts, and sanity returns!

The reason why the Greens have so few MPS is because their ideas are largely unworkable, but in my opinion the Lib Dems have been infiltrated by them e.g. Cllr. Warren who keeps trotting out her ‘Greta I’m going to save the world mantra’ whilst Bath fills up with bicycles, e-scooters, and vacant retail premises.
