Buccs begin new campaign with a draw

Team Bath Buccaneers began the new Men’s Hockey League campaign with a draw at Old Cranleigha­ns. The pair couldn’t be separated as Buccs drew 1-1 in Division One South.

The ladies got off to a perfect start in the Vitality Women’s League Conference West. They ran out 3-1 winners at home to Exe.

In the newly formed West Area leagues, Buccs 2nd were comfortabl­e winners in the Premier Division as they thrashed hosts Penarth 6-1. As for the Women’s Premier Division, Buccs 2nd managed to edge out Falmouth 3-2.

Buccs 3rd were on the wrong end of a 3-2 scoreline in the men’s Division 1 North, while City of Bath cruised to a 5-1 victory over Marlboroug­h. There was another 3-2 result in Division 2 East as City of Bath men’s seconds were beaten at Devizes.

Team Bath Buccs 5th were thrashed 5-0 at Newent, a scoreline reversed by the ladies’ third team in their 5-0 win over Frome. The fourth side were beaten 4-1 by Cirenceste­r.

Keynsham enjoyed a 6-0 win over Bristol Firebrands 5th in the men’s Concorde Division One, a score matched by Team Bath Buccs 6th while City of Bath 4th offered Old Bristolian­s a walkover. In Division Two, Keynsham 2nd mirrored their first team, losing at Clifton Robinsons 6th.

In Saxon Division One, City of Bath 3rd lost 4-2 against Royal Wootton Bassett 2nd, while Team Bath Buccs 7th held hosts Marlboroug­h 2nd to a 2-2 draw. Corsham were beaten 3-1 at Swindon 2nd. In Division Two, Corsham 2nd reversed that scoreline with a victory at home to Marlboroug­h 3rd. Buccs 8th drew 3-3 against North Wilts 2nd.

Back in the women’s leagues, Keynsham edged out Yate 2nd in a five-goal thriller in Berkeley Division One.

In Whitehorse Division One, City of Bath 2nd beat Chippenham 3rd 5-2, while the first team were 4-1 winners at home to Royal Wootton Bassett 2nd.

Keynsham 2nd were thrashed 5-0 at Swindon 2nd, while Team Bath Buccs 4th were 5-1 victors over local rivals Corsham 2nd.

Team Bath Buccs 6th offered Devizes 2nd a walkover in Division Two. The fifth hammered Chippenham 4th 9-0 as Corsham 3rd were edge out by Frome 2nd 1-0.
