HOTEL OF THE WEEK

- Review by Alex Grove

JURY’S INN Nottingham

WHERE AND WHY: This Jury’s Inn is found in the land of Robin Hood, Nottingham, a UNESCO City of Literature and the most popular tourist destination in the East Midlands.

One minute you’re in the middle of a bustling city centre with shops, bars and restaurants, the next you’re taking a selfie with the statue of the legendary outlaw against the backdrop of Nottingham Castle.

The hotel is just a stone’s throw from the city centre, conveniently located right next to the train station.

It’s a plush, modern hotel. Our room was spacious with both double and single beds. Complimentary extras such as biscuits, a chocolate bar and a can of

San Pellegrino were a nice touch alongside the usual tea and coffee. There’s even a gym.

ON THE MENU: The bar area adjoins the on-site restaurant (which is currently closed).

Eating in the bar area is just as pleasant with artistic black and white photos of the city’s landmarks dotted about. Bar food includes nachos, £6, salt and pepper squid, £6, Punjab chicken tikka masala, £14, and a lovely 8oz rib-eye steak, £24.

There’s even a contemporary modern fireplace making it super cosy. If you just fancy a quick snack, there’s an-all day Costa coffee bar in the lobby area.

WHILE YOU’RE THERE: Browse round the independent shops and lively bars of the historic Lace Market and hip Hockley neighbourhood. And it’s worth visiting the National Justice Museum for a fascinating insight into the history of British law.

WAKE-UP CALL: Doubles from £117 per night, B&B, two sharing, jurysinns.com
