fEAR not, there is plenty to do in Bath this Halloween – if you’re looking for the fright of your life, don’t make a grave mistake. From pumpkin extravanag­nzas top Day of the Dead celebratio­ns and a new escape room at one of the city’s newest attraction­s, you will be sure to have a wicked time in Bath this year.

after Dark

Mary shelley’s House of frankenste­in – 6-11PM, october 22-24 and 29-31 Nights to Die For: For a night to die for this Halloween, experience Mary Shelley’s House of Frankenste­in ‘After Dark’ – a new experience exclusivel­y for adults, from the Bath attraction dedicated to Mary Shelley and her legendary gothic tale.

For the first time ever, venture through the House in darkness to uncover Mary’s tragic past, her obsession with the macabre, ‘Frankenste­in’ through the ages, and face the 8ft creature as she really imagined.

Brave the foreboding underbelly of the House at your peril, with live actors for a new ‘X-treme Basement’ experience – and be sure to calm your nerves in Bloody Mary’s Bar. £15 entry online

Victor’s Lair Escape Room: The clock is ticking for you to unlock the ramblings of an unhinged mind and find your way to freedom! Victor

Frankenste­in’s attic quarters are strewn with strange artifacts, insane equations, and miscellane­ous body parts. You have one hour to unravel Victor’s mad thoughts to reveal the mystery equation and escape! Suitable for families with older children, and groups.

Minimum of three persons required to play. Maximum of six persons. Prices from £25 per adult in group of 6. Concession­s available.

Komedia, october 30

Come in your freakiest and finest fancy dress for the chance to win prizes at Bath Komedia. There’ll be tricks, treats, a pro photograph­er and some terrifying 10ft clowns at the funkiest and freakiest Halloween party in the city.

PUMPKIN Patch and spooky adventures for the family

avon valley adventure & wildlife Park, until october 31

Grab a wheelbarro­w and roam the massive pumpkin patch to pick your own pumpkin! Enjoy spooky entertainm­ent, meet creepy characters as they roam the farm looking for the ‘spirit of the pumpkin’, and fairground rides such as pumpkin slingshot and paintball, find the golden pumpkin, fire a pumpkin canon, or Scarecrow Shoot’em. Snack on a variety of tasty autumn food, hot chocolate and pumpkin spiced lattes.

fear 2021

avon valley adventure & wildlife Park (age 12+), until october 31

Voted the UK’S Best Scream Park, Fear at Avon Valley consists of 5 intense scare mazes – Anarchy:live, House of Clowns, X4, Vitanova, and a brand new maze for 2021. In addition to the scare mazes, enjoy a festival-style experience with immersive street theatre acts and an immense fire show. Frank and his troupe of freaks will be back to stalk the event site – and you! You’ll also find thrill rides, music, street food and bars.

Holburne Museum

This October half term explore the Holburne in a new spooktacul­ar way!

Uncover the hidden ghost stories within the museum’s unique collection and historic building – all with a Halloween twist.

Trails are available to purchase from museum front desk, £1 per person.

spooky stories at beckford tower

october 31, 5.30-7PM

Make a twilight visit to the Tower for an evening of spooky events!

This event is for our younger visitors (under 12s) – snuggle down in the Crimson Drawing room for an evening of stories inspired by Beckford’s love for gothic tales.

The event is free of charge, but booking is advised due to limited availabili­ty.

Each session will last 30mins, and limited to strictly maximum one adult per child. Adults do not need to book a ticket.

Halloween week

american Museum and gardens, october 23-31 The American Museum &

Gardens will be offering plenty of events for children and their families over half-term, while celebratin­g the incredible autumnal colours throughout our grounds. Explore the gardens, the parkland, and our children’s play area – and discover the Halloween fun along the way.

Be sure to come along to our All American Pumpkin Place. Learn pumpkin jokes to impress your friends, seek out the special trick or treat zones and find the crayon rubbing stations. Look out for our scarecrows and snap a Halloween selfie, and join in with some lovely autumn arts and craft. Dress up in your very best costumes and join us for an American style fancy dress parade (at 11am or 3pm on Saturdays 23 and 30 and Sundays 24 and 31).

The most fantastic costume will win a prize!
