Goalkeeper scores a cracker

- Mark Payne-blackmore sport@bathchron.co.uk

Only three games took place in the Bath & District Sunday League, with other clubs competing in the Sunday Challenge Cup.

In Division Three, Team Nathan Reserves were last week grabbing the headlines for conceding a late goal to a keeper, however this week Nathan did the complete opposite.

After going 1-0 down through Keynsham Rangers’ Stephen, the away side’s goalkeeper Jamal Ceaser scored from just inside his area, a cracker, for 1-1.

In the second half, Scarrot and Blackmore scored for Nathan, their first three points since forming a Reserves side.

In Division Two, Farrington Albion visited Olympic Victoria and when Jenkins had them one up at half-time before completing his brace in the second half, they must have believed their first three points was on, but it wasn’t to be.

The Vics turned the tide and scored three quality goals after digging deep, winning 3-2.

In Division One, Batheaston handed out an annihilation to Bath United. Goals from Curnock (5), former United player Benjamin (2),

Myrie and Walsh claimed a 9-1 victory, while Boyce managed a consolation for the strugglers.

In the Somerset Cup, Kingsmead and Gringos were gifted homewalkovers from Kingsdown Knights and South Cheriton United Vets respectively, while Griffin couldn’t field a side for their away game and gifted a home-walkover to Staplegrove Vets.

Team Nathan also went into the hat for the next round with four goals from Spurrey, a brace from Rowlands and single strikes from Rosevear and Woods to knock out Digital Dash 8-2. Puckle Vale too move into the next phase after beating fellow BDFL team Two Weir 2-0, Godfrey and Shaw got on the scoresheet.

Heritage faced Coleford Athletic away and though Humphreys scored, they lost the game 4-1.

Though Lofthouse scored for visiting Lansdown, they lost to fellow district team Loco 2-1 while, in another all Bath clash, Division Three Bear Flat welcomed Division Two leaders Dunkerton and the visitors showed the gulf in class running away with a 7-0 victory.

Trinity played host to West Bower but couldn’t take home advantage, losing 6-1.
