Law firm opens new chapter in history with city

-

After almost 200 years in Queens Square national law firm Stone King has moved all of its Bathbased staff to a new head office in the centre of the city.

On Monday (November 1), the firm’s new reception, meeting rooms and offices opened to clients to continue business as usual in Upper Borough Court (UBC), Upper Borough Walls, a stone’s throw from Waitrose and Guildhall.

Steven Greenwood, Stone King’s managing partner, said: “This exciting move means all of our Bathbased specialist sectors and teams are working together at the same city centre location, providing clients with a seamless and accessible service all under the same roof.”

Chair and head of Stone King’s Private Client Sector Alison Allen said: “If there’s one thing we’ve learned over the past 18 months, it is the importance of constantly moving forward and adapting whilst holding on tight to our core values.

“We’re incredibly proud of Stone King’s working history in Bath and our story in the city now continues with a new chapter. We look forward to welcoming our clients at our new home.”

Stone King’s long-standing main office at 12 and 13 Queen Square and its 3 Queen Square base, which primarily housed the firm’s personal law teams, closed permanently on Friday (October 29).

The firm has a working history of 236 years in Bath, and has been at its 12 and 13 Queen Square headquarters since 1832, not long after Jane Austen resided there.

In February 2018 Stone King took office space at UBC to accommodate ongoing growth and has now taken additional office space to

facilitate a complete relocation of Bath teams under one roof.

Stone King has again been ranked as a top law firm by independent guide Chambers.

Charities, education and crime have all received Band 1 ratings and, in addition, 18 lawyers have been recognised by the prestigious guide as have eight of the firm’s other teams.

Stone King also has offices in Bristol, Birmingham, Cambridge, Leeds and London, and scored highly in client feedback which Chambers gathers for its rankings.

“I am very proud of our people for their efforts on behalf of clients which have again seen both our lawyers and the firm recognised,” said Steven Greenwood, managing partner.

“We continue to strive to deliver exceptional service for clients and it is great to see us achieving that.

“I am delighted that so many of our lawyers and teams have been ranked and continue to provide excellent legal services.”

Other areas ranked by Chambers are higher & further education, family & matrimonial, transport, corporate M&A and real estate.

The latest guide has also increased the number of the firm’s lawyers ranked.
