Jenkins scores pair for Bear

- Mark Payne-blackmore sport@bathchron.co.uk

Halloween weather conditions jinxed Bath & District League top tier games between Bath United & Trinity and Kingsmead & PF Loco.

In Division Three, Bear Flat were 4-0 to the good at the break against Keynsham Rangers and though it may have seem unjust, Rangers probably deserved a goal as they kept knocking on the door but experience shone through in the end. A brace from Jenkins was increased by Castignetti, Basson and Pincott for a thumping five star victory.

Lansdown Reserves played hosts to the league leaders Puckle Vale and though scoring twice through Chapman and Elliott, they couldn’t stop Vale’s unbelievable winning streak. Finally losing 4-2, striking for the visitors were Langdon, Godfrey, Preddy and an own goal.

The Second Division managed to keep all three games on and none disappointed, with lots of goals and thrilling action.

Though Team Nathan dominated, it was the visitors Griffin who saw themselves 1-0 up at the break, the only chance of the half when the home keeper dropped the ball in front of the opposing striker from a set-piece. In the second half the home team took it up a gear or two.

First a header from Eames and then a birthday goal from Rowlands of pure class from long range put them 2-1 ahead.

Rosevear then scored a brace, first a deflected shot from the edge of box before a clever finish on the angle after Paget’s through ball. Griffin scored again but it was not enough to take anything from this one.

The watching eyes were gifted to a six-goal thriller up the Lew Hill Memorial as Odd Down Reserves and Olympic Victoria went goal crazy but still couldn’t be separated. Down scorers Box, Gould and Muir were matched by Prates Pereira, Rogers and an own goal to make these two share the points at 3-3.

A spirited effort by Gringos but no-one is yet to take points from the formidable leaders Dunkerton, who have a 100 per cent record so far and look unstoppable. Very worthy of that likely promotion right now and certainly going to take some beating, at times already playing like a top league team in winning 4-3.
