A thief who repeatedly targeted stores in Bath told a judge he had given up crime.

Alexander Densley was so well known when he returned to one shop a staff member told him to leave.

Bristol Crown Court heard with that Densley told him: “I’ll do what I want, you’re not allowed to stop me, “I’m a Thai boxer, I’ll bang you.”

Densley, 23, of Norfolk Crescent in Bath, pleaded guilty to six thefts, a public order offence, burglary and possessing a Class A drug.

Judge James Patrick jailed him for seven months.

He told Densley: “This was prolific offending in July, September and October. It only stopped when you were arrested. It is a shame you were not arrested before.

“You have targeted shops and business to try to fund your own addiction.”

The judge handed Densley a fiveyear restraining order banning him from all contact with a named shop worker.

Maddie Steele, prosecuting, said Densley stole goods from the same Co-op store in Bath on July 14, 15 and 26.

On July 26, when challenged and told to leave, he told a shop worker he was a Thai boxer.

Miss Steele told the court: “He had his hands up in a raised, fight position.

“Mr Densley asked what time the staff member finished work and the implication was he would wait for him to fight him.”

The court heard Densley plundered more goods from a Bath Co-op on September 26 and donned a Sainsbury’s jacket when he stole from a Sainsbury’s on September 28.

On October 4 he burgled a Co-op stock room, plundering £7,000 worth of cigarettes and tobacco, and he put on a Co-op uniform when he stole vodka from a Co-op store on October 7.

He was arrested in Bath on October 13 and police found him with 0.2g of Class A drug heroin, the court was told.

Nicholas Clough, defending, said his client was addicted to drugs from the age of 18 and was diagnosed as autistic, with a side effect of ADHD.

Mr Clough said: “He’s not unintelligent. He could hold down a decent job.”

Densley, who is about to become a father, told the judge: “I have no intention of offending, I can guarantee you.

“I’m not going to take drugs. I’m not going to commit another crime in my life.”
