Brendan joins city farm team
There is a new director of Bath City Farm in Twerton.
Brendan Tate Wistreich has been appointed to oversee the direction of the natural community facility.
The farm is run as a charity funded by a combination of grants, donations and corporate sponsorship.
“I’m really excited to be working on the land, exploring our relationship with the environment through community health, wellbeing and connection,” said Brendan.
Brendan has a passion for sustainability, with a master’s degree in the subject gained in Sweden.
He is also a volunteer chair of a theatre company led by adults with learning disabilities called The Misfits.
“I’m interested in how Bath City Farm can showcase more sustainable ways of living and provide opportunities for people to connect to our food system to learn and live well with nature and other wildlife,” he said.
He also campaigns locally in Bristol for low-traffic, green, childfriendly neighbourhoods and most recently to save a local cinema.
Before arriving at the farm Brendan worked for Coexist CIC, a project that turned a large disused office building into a thriving community hub known as Hamilton House in Bristol.
Most recently he was head of operations for City to Sea, an organisation campaigning to prevent plastic pollution at source.
The farm currently runs workshops for different sections of the community, including corporate team building days.
There are also volunteering days for people who have suffered trauma or bereavement, training days for adults with learning disabilities and farm clubs on Saturdays for five to 11-year-olds.
Brendan’s priorities in his new role include launching a threeyear strategy for the farm and completing the build and establishing the new cafe at the farm.
