Pub unveils refit in time for festive season

-

A Bath pub has undergone another round of renovations after new management took it on last year.

The Fairfield Arms, on Fairfield Park, was taken over by partners Chris, 44, and Jamie Lewis, 39, who have made their pub the centre of their local community.

After an impressive first round of renovations the pub has just had more work done, including all new signage and toilets.

Chris said: “It hasn’t been easy over the last year, we shut for four months.

“It’s been a nightmare with Covid but I’m proud of the fact we are still here. There was a time when I thought ‘what have we done’ but we love it.

“The locals have been brilliant, we wouldn’t be here without their support as we’re a bit further out in Bath so really rely on them.

“We’re open this Christmas and have got 40 people coming for Christmas roast, we have quite a few single male customers and we wanted to make sure they had somewhere to come.

“Some families have said people on their own can join them, we’re all mucking in.

“Jamie and I want to be in the pub looking after our customers and we’re told they come to see us too, which is nice.”

Mr Lewis explained that the brewing company Red Oak Taverns has helped fund this new renovation.

He said: “We have had new signage, completely new gents’ and ladies’ toilets, painted windows and other bits, it’s looking really smart.

“I’m really proud of what we have managed to achieve. We’ve just put up the Christmas decorations and have tons of lights all over the ceiling so we’re looking really festive.”

The pub reopened on Tuesday after the renovations, which lasted two weeks.
