-

Team Bath Buccaneers 3rd remain on the coattails of West Area Men’s Division One North leaders Clifton Robinsons 2nd as they edged past hosts Leominster 2-1 on Saturday. Buccs remain two points off the top, but ahead of University of Bristol 2nd on goal difference after registering a second consecutive win, with two games left in 2020 before the Christmas break. City of Bath were thrashed 5-1 at Bristol for a second successive loss in seventh.

With Storm Arwen causing havoc up and down the country, three games in Division Two East were postponed due to the weather, leaving Buccs 5th to travel to Stroud where they suffered a 5-0 defeat to remain second bottom. Nearly all Buccs and City of Bath home games were postponed, which left unbeaten Keynsham to go back top of Concorde Division One by a point after hammering bottom North Somerset 2nd 10-0.

The Second Side played their final game of 2020 in Concorde Division Two but were beaten 8-3 at home to unbeaten leaders Weston-super-mare to remain second bottom with just one win from eight.

Despite having no games taking place in Bath, there was action not too far away in Corsham as the local derby in Saxon Division One saw the hosts win 3-0 against City of Bath 3rd to go top by a point ahead of Swindon 2nd, who have now played a game less. Bath remain second bottom after a third consecutive defeat.

Team Bath Buccs 8th ventured to Royal Wootton Bassett 3rd and lost 3-1 in Saxon Division Two to remain second bottom on four points before their final game of the 2020 calendar at home to local rivals Corsham 2nd.

In the women’s leagues, Team Bath Buccs 3rd head into the Christmas break with a four point lead at the top of Division Two East, albeit having played a game more than immediate rivals Marlborough. They ended the calendar year with a 7-0 thrashing of bottom side Chippenham 2nd. Corsham enjoyed a 6-2 win at second bottom Frome to remain ten points behind Buccs in fourth.

Keynsham also head into the New Year with a three point lead atop of Berkeley Division One. They held on to get past second bottom Wotton-under-edge 2nd 2-1. The Third Side still have one more game to play on Saturday in Berkeley Division Three, but they were narrowly beaten 1-0 at home to second-bottom Wick to remain just a place ahead but now only by four points.

City of Bath 2nd were able to host the only game to take place in the city, but played out a goalless draw against Royal Wootton Bassett 2nd for their first point of the season in Whitehorse Division One. The First Team won 2-0 at West Wilts to end their calendar year with a fourgame winning streak as they sit two points off the leaders.

The Seconds are two points off second-bottom during a difficult campaign so far.

Buccs 5th romped to an 8-2 victory at West Wilts 3rd in Whitehorse Division Two to end their twogame losing streak. Corsham 3rd were beaten 2-1 by Royal Wootton Bassett 3rd for a first loss in four and are now just a point ahead of Buccs 6th in fifth.
