Village art trail event’s back for a third year

-

Now in its third year, the Batheaston Art Trail has become a firm fixture on the West Country art scene, with local artists and designers now getting ready to open up their studios and shared-venue displays.

The Batheaston Art Trail 2023 will take place on Saturday and Sunday October 7 and 8, from 11.30 am to 5.30pm each day. The trail consists of a walking route around the village with stops at several artist studios as well as the collective exhibition spaces of St John the Baptist Church and the Batheaston New Village Hall.

This year, there are 40 artists exhibiting across 15 venues who will be showing in a variety of art including fine art, prints, sculpture, mixed media, textiles, jewellery and ceramics. A map of the trail and art guide is available at art shops and cafés in Bath, and downloadable from the Grow Batheaston website (www. growbatheaston.co.uk).

Light lunches and refreshments are available at St John the Baptist Church, as well as at local cafés on the High Street.

“We had such lovely feedback from visitors after each of the last two trails, and it really is such an enjoyable way to spend a few hours - or you can even make a weekend of it,” says Rachel Fixsen, ceramicist and one of the Batheaston Art Trail organisers.

“There is so much to take in, it is worth using both days. It’s not just about seeing the amazingly diverse creative work we’re showcasing, but also the perfect opportunity to explore a new art form or two as well as buy some unique gifts whilst supporting local artists and small businesses,” she says.
