Hungry moths threaten historic fabrics
Experts at English Heritage are worried that an epidemic of clothes moths is threatening rare furnishings and fabrics in historic houses. The charity says that moth numbers have doubled over the past five years, and one species that likes to feast on wool carpets and tapestries has been detected at its properties for the first time. Moth hunts are under way at 40 English Heritage sites, and the public has been asked to monitor moths at home.
