Vik­ings may have pro­duced wine

Ex­perts study­ing grape pips from a Vik­ing set­tle­ment near Copen­hagen be­lieve that they may indi­cate the pro­duc­tion of wine by the Danes. Sci­en­tific anal­y­sis of the pips sug­gests that the grapes were grown on Zealand, Den­mark’s largest is­land, coun­ter­ing the long-held be­lief that the Scan­di­na­vian cli­mate was too harsh for viti­cul­ture.
