HUMANITY IN ACTION

-

Humanity has always been at the very heart of the Red Cross. From its origin in 1863 right up to the present day, it has been connecting human kindness with human crisis all over the world. And its dedicated volunteers and supporters are making sure that’s the case long into the future.

More than 150 years ago, Swiss businessman Henry Dunant founded the Red Cross in order to provide neutral and impartial help to those suffering in times of war. He made a promise that no one should ever have to suffer a crisis alone, and that’s why to this day, the charity is still there to help anyone in need.

The British Red Cross is part of the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement, made up of 17 million volunteers across 191 countries. The charity responds to all kinds of crises, from providing practical help and emotional support to a family after a house fire in the UK, to delivering food and medical aid to those caught up in the devastating conflicts in Syria and Yemen.

By leaving a gift in your will, you can help make sure the British Red Cross is ready as soon as an emergency strikes, whether that’s an earthquake, a flood or someone in the UK needing to get home from hospital. What’s more, the kindness of people like you ensures the charity will be able to continue to support vulnerable people for many years to come.

Without the dedication of its volunteers, the British Red Cross wouldn’t have the resources to help those in need. Without the generosity of its supporters, there would be no help to give. By leaving a gift in your will, you can help transform the lives of people in crisis – whoever and wherever they are.
