Correction

In The Woman who Crushed the Vikings (June), we quoted Alcuin’s description of a Viking attack, with the implication that it was written at the time of the Great Viking Army. Alcuin was actually describing the sack of Lindisfarne in 793, several decades earlier. Thanks to reader Dave Haldenby for spotting this error.
