2 1913–2005 Rosa Parks

In 1955, Rosa Parks (pictured right), an African-American woman living in Montgomery, challenged US racial segregation by refusing to give up her seat on a bus for a white person. Her protest was supported by many other African-Americans and helped to spark the civil rights movement of the 1950s and 1960s.
