KIRI TE KANAWA AT THE BBC
The great New Zealand soprano Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, now 72 (above), looks back at her life in song, through 40 years of classic performances from the BBC archives. Her dramatic and operatic expertise is captured in a Royal Opera House production of Puccini’s Manon Lescaut and she describes working with great conductors including Leonard Bernstein and Georg Solti. She also reflects on one of the greatest highlights of her career, when she sang Handel’s ‘Let the bright Seraphim’ to a global audience of 700 million at the 1981
