In the April is­sue you say that Ge­orge An­theil be­came a film com­poser in Hol­ly­wood. He did more than just com­pose. Dur­ing World War II, he and the ac­tress Hedy Lamarr de­vised a ra­dio sys­tem for con­trol­ling tor­pe­does. Their ra­dio sys­tem formed the ba­sis for spread-spec­trum com­mu­ni­ca­tions which is used by, among other things, mo­bile phones and Wi-fi.
