Pianist Peter Serkin is an alumnus of Philadelphia’s renowned Curtis Institute and joins the conservatory’s Symphony Orchestra on a European tour conducted by Osmo Vänskä. At London’s Cadogan Hall he performs Brahms’s Piano Concerto No. 1, while the orchestra’s 100-or-so players should lend heroic heft to the other work: Strauss’s semi-autobiographical tone poem Ein Heldenleben.
