An informal gathering
There will a noticeably informal feel to the Royal Albert Hall on 29 July, as the BBC stages its first ever Relaxed Prom. No, this is not the latest in the fad for chill-out concerts, but a lunchtime performance aimed at children plus adults with learning disabilities. Other concerts and themes announced by BBC Proms director David Pickard at the season’s launch include a centenary celebration of the Russian Revolution, ‘Beyond the Score’ Proms exploring the history behind great works, and a Prom in Hull. We will give full details, and more, in our Proms issue next month.
