Many insects suffer from accurateyet-dull names, so some prefer this handsome creature’s alternative moniker ‘green stink bug’, referencing as it does its smelly deterrent. Look out for paired adults mating ‘tail to tail’. From the end of the month, you will also start to see the five immature growth-stages, called instars, which come in an array of bold colours and markings. Spot them on a wide variety of plants in gardens, parks and woods.
