1 FIRST SIGHTING
I go to RSPB Exe Estuary regularly to photograph birds. On this particular visit in June, I was watching butterflies flitting along the path when I noticed a little ball of ginger fluff clinging to a blade of grass. When I moved nearer I realised it was a dormouse! It seemed oblivious to my presence and continued to feed and groom itself. I was able to get some close, detailed shots using my zoom lens. As soon as I returned home I contacted the site manager, Peter Otley, and he confirmed this was the first ever dormouse seen on the reserve! Jo King, Exminster, UK
