5 FLYING HIGH
After reading Marianne Taylor’s feature (Birds About Town) in the February issue of BBC Wildlife, my wife and I were inspired to visit Matera, Italy, in late May. The city is charming, but we also saw, and heard, a lot of construction in progress. It was inspiring to see the lesser kestrels thriving in the face of urban development. This photo of the species soaring past a crane was taken within an hour of checking into our hotel. Luke O’Brien, Coventry, UK
