Albino squirrels are occasionally seen in the UK and can cause quite a stir when spotted in the garden. Albinism is a rare occurrence caused by a gene mutation that affects the production of pigmentation of the skin. Because of their bright appearance, albino squirrels are more likely to be predated on in the wild.
