April Fool?

-

The article on conservation in China (Creating Edens, April 2018) asks “Is China actually leading the way in conservation?” and I thought immediately: April Fool or a wind up?

I saw no reference in the article to traditional medicines, shark fin or tiger penis soup (in fact, nothing about tiger parts at all), ivory or bear bile farms. China’s record on conservation is an absolute disgrace. Although it was recently announced that the horn and ivory carvers were ceasing their activities in the country, they have all moved to Laos and Vietnam where they sell to China on the internet!
