Howell now in unit for vulnerable prisoners
DOUBLE murderer Colin Howell has been transferred to a prison unit for vulnerable inmates.
It is understood that authorities are concerned about the health of the former dentist, who conspired with lover Hazel Stewart to murder Constable Trevor Buchanan (33) and 31-year- old Lesley Howell in 1991.
Howell (57) is being held in a hospital block in Maghaberry, where he is under 24-hour surveillance, BelfastLive reported.
Earlier this year, the killer — who sexually abused patients at his Ballymoney dental practice as well as gassing his wife and his lover’s husband — was treated at the Ulster Hospital after collapsing inside Maghaberry.
