Teenage girl and grandmother survive gun attack on their house
A TEENAGE girl and her grandmother had a lucky escape after their house near a primary school in south Belfast was targeted by a gunman.
Detectives are appealing for information following the shooting at Eliza Street Terrace in the Markets area on Wednesday, just after 8.50pm.
It was reported that a number of shots had been fired through a kitchen window at the rear of a house in the area.
Residents of the house were left shocked, but no other injuries were reported. A bullet hit the floor near a 15-year-old girl and another struck the ceiling close to where her grandmother had been sitting minutes earlier.
Police forensics officers combed the streets for clues yesterday and the area was cordoned off.
Detective Sergeant Natalie McNally said: “I would ask anyone with any information about this incident to contact detectives at Musgrave Police Station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 1212 of 28/09/16.
“Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
