Heathrow expansion ‘would boost NI’
NORTHERN Ireland could benefit from more connections to London Heathrow and further afield if the airport gets the green light for a third runway, it has been claimed.
Heathrow has said it will add 21 daily UK domestic connections if the Government approves plans to grow the airport, which added that it would open the new links before any work expansion work begins.
A spokesman for the airport also explained that the decision to leave the EU had “increased the need to deliver more growth for every corner of Britain faster”.
And Brian Ambrose, chief executive Belfast City Airport, added that the current link was “critical to the Northern Irish economy, bringing in tourists and business investment”.
