JP Corry continues expansion with deal to purchase timber merchants business
A NORTHERN Ireland building materials firm has taken over a Coleraine company as part of its latest expansion.
JP Corry confirmed the acquisition of the business and assets of timber and builders merchants H&T Bellas Ltd and the purchase increases the total number of JP Corry branches to 17.
Ciaran McConnell, JP Corry managing director, said that the transition will strengthen the company’s offering in Northern Ireland.
“H&T Bellas is a highly respected and successful business with a rich history dating back to 1825, which fits perfectly with JP Corry’s heritage and culture,” he said.
“The acquisition has run smoothly and we’re delighted to have such a high quality business join our group.
“I’d like to extend my thanks to Michael Henry for the company’s successful track record and I look forward to welcoming our new colleagues to JP Corry.”
Michael Henry, H&T Bellas managing director, paid tribute to staff, both past and present, many with over 40 years’ service, and thanked them for their loyalty and hard work.
“H&T Bellas has had a long association with JP Corry who bring the advantages of group purchasing power and access to a competitive and diverse range of products and services,” Mr Henry said.
The ownership of H&T Bellas has spanned three generations and almost 100 years.
JP Corry was founded in 1814 and supplies a large range of products for building projects, from below ground to the finishing products.
The Springfield Road-based firm was bought by Frenchowned building supplies giant Saint-Gobain in 2006.
Saint-Gobain in the UK and Ireland includes companies in the construction sector such as British Gypsum, Jewson, Graham, Weber and Celotex.
