NI firm to roll out new cancer test

- BY RACHEL MARTIN

A CO Antrim firm manufacturing a breakthrough test for an aggressive form of breast cancer hopes to launch its product commercially in July.

Antrim firm 3N Diagnostics’ test uses a revolutionary straining process performed on breast cancer tissue removed during a biopsy to show whether or not a cancer cell has specific hormone receptors.

It can spot at a very early stage basal-like breast cancer, which was a previously unidentifiable sub-type of cancer.

It has the potential to save thousands of lives as early detection means early treatment.

The test has obtained CE Marking, an EU accreditation.
