A THREE-BEDROOM bungalow in Newry will be auctioned off this week for a meagre £15,000 in London, becoming the latest to join a growing list of rock bottom priced properties in Northern Ireland.
Nestled in a quiet cul-de-sac, the unexpected bargain property, set amid a generous garden, is to go under the hammer at an auction this Thursday at the Cumberland Hotel in London.
Chestnut Grove is known as a quiet area not far from the city centre and other properties on the street have recently gone on the market for almost £200,000.
But if it sells for the guide price of just £15,000, it could be secured with a 10% deposit of £1,500 with typical mortgage repayments of just £53 per month over 30 years.
The Belfast Telegraph asked Allsop who the seller of the bungalow is but the company said that it never reveals details of the vendor of any dwelling.
Last week we revealed that a terraced house in Lurgan’s Victoria Street was up for grabs at £15,000.
Also throughout this year a house in Meyrick Street in north Belfast went on the market for £55,000, but was also in need of major repair.
At Gortfin Park, just off the Falls Road another home was on offer for £20,000.
Another of Northern Ireland’s cheapest homes this year — a derelict three-bed terrace house off Ballymena’s Cushendall Road — is currently on the market with a guide price of £25,000.
Moving to the west of Northern Ireland, a one-bedroom apartment in Fintona, Co Tyrone was on offer for £11,000, whilst a two-bedroom flat in the same complex could have been snapped up for £13,000.
Last week, the latest figures from Ulster University’s Quarterly House Price Index revealed the average house price in Northern Ireland currently stands at approximately £148,000.
