Hit-and-run victim’s body back home for funeral

Road death: Matthew Bradley THE body of a young Co Antrim gardener who was killed in a hitand-run in Liverpool has arrived home as his family prepare to lay him to rest.

Matthew Bradley (24) was living in Guildford but had been visiting Liverpool with friends when he was struck by a vehicle on November 3.

The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust helped bring his body home to Glenavy on Saturday night, after Merseyside Police lifted restrictions allowing it to be released to his family.

“He’s home now and he’s with his family,” the charity said.

Bystanders tried to save Matthew before he was rushed to Royal Liverpool University Hospital.

He was pronounced dead at 2.30am on Saturday, November 4.

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

A 33-year-old man from Bradford and a 22-year-old man from Liverpool have been conditionally bailed and will appear in court next month.

Forensic officers are examining a BMW 330, which is suspected of being the vehicle involved in the incident.

In a previous statement issued on behalf of them and his three sisters and his girlfriend, Matthew’s parents Donal and Margaret Bradley described their son as “hugely talented” like his father. They added: “He was a funny, kind-hearted and generous young man who will be sorely missed by all that knew him.”
