Turkington to stick with BMW in bid for title No.3

COLIN Turkington will remain with the West Surrey Racing-run Team BMW as he challenges for a third British Touring Car Championsh­ip in 2018.

The Portadown driver finished runner-up to Ash Sutton last season on his return to the West Surrey team where he won the BTCC title in 2009 and 2014.

Despite losing out in the final race of the year to Sutton and the Team BMR Subaru he drove in 2016, Turkington insists he has no regrets about the move and says there were never any doubts in his mind about continuing with WSR in 2018.

“Returning to WSR last year was a dream come true and I was extremely proud to help them retain the teams’ and manufactur­ers’ titles for BMW,” said Turkington, who will again have Rob Collard and Andrew Jordan as his team-mates.

“It is clear to me that Team BMW is my motorsport home and a place where I perform at my best.

Turkington, whose announceme­nt came hard on the heels of the news that fellow Ulsterman Chris Smylie has retained his BTCC place with the Norlin team, added: “We head into 2018 with the experience of 2017 under our belt, and I believe this will add
