Farage has salary slashed to recoup ‘misspent funds’
FORMER UKIP leader Nigel Farage has had his MEP salary cut in half after EU officials found that he had spent money intended for MEP work on UKIP party costs.
Mr Farage and seven other UKIP MEPs were investigated by the European Parliament after the allegations surfaced last year.
The Brexit campaigner now has to pay back £35,500 after financial investigators ruled that European Parliament funds money had been misapplied.
Mr Farage told the MailOnline website yesterday that the EU was “just being vindictive” to him because of his role in the Brexit vote — and that he was being treated as “guilty until proven innocent”.
