Mash Direct products to be sold in US
VEGETABLE side dish company Mash Direct have announced their products with be available in the US for the first time this week.
The Comber-based firm will be selling eight of their products in Key Food supermarkets throughout New York, Connecticut, New Jersey and Pennsylvania
All of Mash Direct’s products are grown on Martin Hamilton’s farm on the shores of Strangford Lough.
Mash Direct said the Key Food deal was the first time potatoes grown in Northern Ireland will be available for customers in US grocery stores. Mr Hamilton, a sixth-generation farmer, diversified his farming business in 2004 to create Mash Direct. It now has more than 40 products.
Mash Direct boss Jack Hamilton said: “We wanted to bring the unique richness of Irish soil and six generations of farming knowledge to the shelves.”
