The DUP’s approach to Brexit defies logic

-

IT is interesting to note the recent comments by Nigel Dodds that “the Irish government’s current approach (to Brexit) defies logic”, because, according to Mr Dodds, Simon Coveney “threw his weight behind Brussels”.

I would say that it is the DUP’s current approach that defies logic, as they — bafflingly — continue to support the UK (and, therefore, Northern Ireland) cutting itself off from its largest trading partner — the EU.

Okay, in time, we might be able to negotiate new trade deals with the US, China and India, but the question has to be asked, what if the UK is unable to negotiate these trade deals? What happens then?

Do these three countries not already have trade deals with the EU, made up of 28 countries and a population of approximately 600 million people?

Why would the US, China and India even need to waste their time negotiating a new trade deal with one country with a population a tenth of that?

What can the UK uniquely offer the US, China and India that cannot be found anywhere in the other 27 countries?
