Wozniacki and Federer stroll on but Djokovic suffers loss

WORLD No.2 Caroline Wozniacki defeated Aliaksandr­a Sasnovich 6-4 2-6 6-3 in the third round of the WTA Indian Wells tournament.

The 27-year-old will now face either reigning US Open champion Sloane Stephens or 20th seed Daria Kasatkina of Russia.

World No.1 and defending champion Roger Federer stayed on course for a sixth title in the desert after a 6-2 6-1 win over 25th seed Filip Krajinovic.

Federer played much better than in the second round, losing serve once at the start and breaking Krajinovic five times.

Federer is aiming to reach the semi-finals in order to remain No.1 ahead of Rafael Nadal.

Novak Djokovic lost on his return to competitiv­e tennis to Taro Daniel.

Daniel, ranked 109 in the world, claimed the biggest win of his career as the qualifier prevailed 7-6 (7-3) 4-6 6-1.
