Let’s hope plans to revitalise Floral Hall will soon blossom

-

Romance is not dead even in the hard-headed world of property development.

Lawrence Kenwright was so moved by the tales of love originating in Belfast’s Floral Hall that he wants to buy the now derelict ballroom of romance and turn it into an entertainment, wedding and conference venue.

In its heyday, the venue attracted thousands of patrons annually and even superstars like Pink Floyd played there.

Mr Kenwright’s plan will hearten many people who wish to see the city’s built heritage retained, restored and converted to public use.

Many will be glad if the Floral Hall will one day bloom again as an attraction.
