Coleraine hit front as title race hots up
COLERAINE shot to the top of the Danske Bank Premiership last night after celebrating a comeback win over Carrick Rangers at the Showgrounds.
The Bannsiders are now a point ahead of Crusaders who visit Warrenpoint Town on Monday night.
Darren Henderson fired Carrick in front but Oran Kearney’s men replied with a Josh Carson double and Aaron Burns strike.
Michael Smith reduced the deficit but the title chasers saw the job through.
“People have questioned us but the players have kept in there and we find ourselves back in the race,” said Kearney.
Ballymena United won 2-1 at Glentoran to move a point behind the Glens and they can land a top six place with a victory at home to Ballinamallard United on Monday. Cliftonville eased to a 3-0 win over Ards while Linfield were held 2-2 at Ballinamallard and Dungannon Swifts edged out Glenavon 3-2.
