Francis deserves O’Brien criticism
The Pope has been criticised, not unfairly, for not mentioning the victims of the disgraced Cardinal Keith O’Brien in a letter of condolences to his family.
However, it was Pope Francis who gave the final push to make O’Brien resign as cardinal, the first to do so since 1927.
Ballycastle-born O’Brien, a savage critic of gay marriage, had faced many allegations of improper sexual advances to fellow clerics.
How hypocritical that was.
