Teen fined for breaking into pub’s beer garden
A CO Down man who broke into a pub beer garden “to extend the night’s drinking” was handed a £150 fine yesterday.
Newry Magistrates Court, sitting in Lisburn, heard how Jamie Sedtke (19) had been socialising on February 5 but “didn’t want to go home”, so he broke into the beer garden of Number 7 Duke Street in Warrenpoint.
A prosecutor said CCTV captured the defendant lifting up a shutter, “pouring four pints of beer” and handing them and two bottles of lemonade to another man before the pair walked off.
Sedtke, from Rossmara Park in Warrenpoint, did not appear in court, but defence counsel Kevin O’hare entered a guilty plea to burglary on his behalf.
Mr O’hare said that having enjoyed “a night’s revelry”, his client decided that he didn’t want to go home.
“It’s burglary and burglary is a serious charge, but you may feel that it falls at the lower end of the scale,” he added.
Sedtke was also ordered to pay £22 for the beer he stole.
