Hay fever is an allergy to pollen which causes rhinitis: this causes the inside of your nose to become inflamed, causing sneezing, itchiness and persistent running. It can have effects on your sinuses and eyes, too. Rhinitis can also be caused by other allergies, such as dust or animal fur – you will know if your symptoms are specifically due to hay fever, as this will be seasonal rather than all year round.
