‘Pin thin’, ‘Frozen face’, ‘A talking dog’: Angry Amanda hits back at the haters
She’s taken her share of flak over the years, but BGT judge Amanda Holden never takes criticism lying down...
BGT viewers were shocked when eight-yearold comedian Ned Woodman delivered a savage insult recently.
The boy, whose dad is a writer on sitcom Not Going Out, quipped, ‘ Why were people so excited by that talking dog on Britain’s Got Talent? Amanda Holden’s been on it for years!’
While Amanda remained composed in front of the cameras, she later approached the boy’s parents to express her offence at the poor-taste joke.
‘I think he should temper his act to his age. I had words with his parents on the day. I don’t think any parent would let their child say that,’ she said.
One viewer tweeted, ‘I’m no Amanda Holden fan, but misogyny from an eight-yearold is not on!’
Yet it’s far from the first time Amanda’s appearance has attracted negative comments.
When she stepped out at a BGT screening in a backless dress, onlookers were left shocked by her skinny frame.
One told best, ‘It was shocking how thin she appeared. She really did look like a pinhead.’
And although Amanda, 46, claims she’s given up Botox, her face has also attracted attention. One fan tweeted ‘Amanda needs to lay off lip Botox, she can’t get her words out properly.’
Previously, the TV star has denied the accusations, saying, ‘Everybody knows that, in the past, I’ve talked about having Botox. But, since spending time in intensive care after nearly losing a baby, I’ve not gone under the knife or had any injections.’
Yet rumours still persist that the actress has gone back to the needle.
So could she be feeling the pressure of sitting next to Alesha Dixon, who, at 38, is nearly 10 years her junior and so statuesque that 5ft 5in Amanda admits to feeling like a ‘munchkin’ next to her?
Knowing Simon Cowell likes his female co-stars to look their best could be another worry. Alesha recently claimed that he’d be ‘mortified’ if they turned up wearing bin bags.
‘It’s the last thing he wants. Otherwise, he’d have hired four men, wouldn’t he?’ she said.
Either way, poor Amanda seems to be getting it from all directions right now. We think it’s great she’s fighting back!
