BEHIND THE SCENES WITH best

Dublin-born Aidan Turner, 33, lives in London. The scything sex bomb is often linked to stunning women, but is currently single.

So, Aidan, do you take any clothes off this series?

The clothes stay on this year. Maybe there’s some topless sleeping? I can’t remember. The clothes go on and off so easily these days.

Is Ross a bit older and wiser this series?

He is growing up a lot, becoming more mature, and he’s better at listening. It comes with growing inside a relationship, but also losing a child and having a business fail and not knowing if you’re going to be able to put food on the table for your family. These are difficult things that would make you wise up.

But we hope he’s not become too sensible?

He only takes big risks now if he has to, but it’s still in him, and there will always be an inner rebel wanting to get out. There is one big risk that Ross believes he has to take for the sake of loyalty or friendship. He’s tentative about pushing the idea, as there’s a huge possibility he won’t come back, but Demelza realises that, given the circumstances, he has to go.

And how are Ross and Demelza getting on?

They are mending their relationship. There is obviously a lot of tension still in the air but it seems they’ve talked it through, so Ross is licking his wounds and getting the relationship

back on track. They’ve their own family to think of now, and want to get on with life while hoping for an easier one.

Did you have fun filming this series?

Tons. This series, the boys got to do a lot more action – we were running around with guns and breaking into prisons, and there’s a lot of espionage involved. There’s nothing quite like playing soldiers with the lads.

Do you get saucy fan mail?

I don’t get sent rude things or sexy things. I get a lot of sweets and chocolate. I think people want to fatten me up. ● Poldark, Sunday, BBC One, 9pm
