A little help from Mum

It was Jean who set Carol on the road to stardom, encouraging her to apply for her first TV job. Carol said, ‘She spotted an ad in the local paper asking for a girl who was “good at maths” to help present a new TV show, Countdown. She sent in an application for me and I ended up with the job.’ Just goes to show – mums always know best.
